About tanukininja

Hello, I am just an average person who loves to share his opinions on the media. Such as Gaming and anime. Very fond of Japanese culture and some could say I am an Otaku.

Pray for Japan

A tragic event has occurred in Japan recently and i’m shocked. An Earthquake with a magnitude scale of 8.8M has hit Japan nationwide alongside with Tsunami currents and rifts that are still attacking the Countryside. Hundreds thousands people lost their homes and so far I’ve heard about hundreds of have died so far. I’m really worried about all the people there and my prayers and blessings to the people of Japan as they are living at a rough time; Pray for their families, their losses, future, aid and etc. I have a uncle who works in Japan from time to time to train workers for his company… I really hope he is okay. I just want him to be safe and at home with his wife who is currently pregnant. Everyone be thankful for what you have….

Depriving my Online Social Interactivity

Well…. It’s Spring break for some College students and I guess I have some more free time now. It’s been really a long time since I updated my blog and my work, I guess i’m kind of slacking a bit lately. I feel like I don’t have the energy I had since the start of the year, where I was more productive and on top of things. I haven’t really blogged, posted videos, draw, write reviews or broadcasted on JTV. Things have changed over that time…. People ask me “How come you aren’t doing these things no more?” I find it funny since I don’t really get much views on my online profiles or visitors on the blog. But I guess there are some people who want to know me and I’ll guess i’ll reply to that, as they are the viewers and followers.

I have been kind of busy with my life you can say kind of… for one I have been doing schoolwork and studying so I can hopefully transfer to another university. Having morning and night classes give me little time during middle of the day to do each things, whenever I have free days during the week I’m usually asleep. I don’t really know what direction in life i’m heading towards too or what to do in the future? I’ve became also more socially withdrawn as my psychologically development too; I spend most of my free time chatting on Skype sometimes. I really don’t have much friends in the real world and I really devote my friendships online but deriving your real life activities to be on Skype is not what I want it to be no more. I remember the days I use to actually spend my free time on more productive things like my Part time Job, Artwork and my health.

I decided that i’m no longer going to use Skype to be affiliated with these long distanced friendships that I should use it to contact a friend or family member once in awhile. All things should be taken moderately… As for social problems, I have been also experiencing physical problems such as my diet. Eating cafeteria Junk and sitting on the computer isn’t good for my health either. For the past few weeks I’ve been walking in to town and getting a good couple of hours of exercise and seeing some new places. Such as going to cafes and hanging down at bookstores. It really made me feel that there is a beautiful world out there and plenty of things for me ahead of my life to do than wasting the minute of my precious time.

For people who actually wonder what will happen to my videos and reviews, don’t worry I still work on a bit on free time.

Coming up soon! …

Shinrei Tantei Yakumo:Anime Review

As anticipated Fall 2010 season was, Bee Train’s latest anime Shinrei Tantei Yakumo translating from Japanese “Psychic Detective Yakumo” was released. A series I would consider an “Occult detective” with a mixture of mystery and paranormal elements. It was originally a novel original written by Manibu Kaminaga that has adapted into two Mangas, stage play, and a live action. As for novel to get so many adaptations I was convinced that I should check this out and review it for myself. Continue reading

Tsuda Takatoshi is a young teenage male student is tranfering schools. Not just any other ordinary High School, Ousai Academy is an all girls that just has accepted to go coed with few male students. Many believe those male students are there for a dream of a harem. Tsuda isn’t the particular kind of guy who is that fond of girls nor a harem, he is quite the kind timid guy. He is the first male student to join the School Coucil along with three other girls: Shino the council president, a talented smart girl along with her best friend Aria Shichijou who is calm gentle girl and not least Suzu Hagimura the smallest girl who is the smartest. Kimi Ni Todoke Season 1 Review

Ah! The starting years of High School in Japan! It’s the beginning of Spring and the School year starts in Japan. Cherry Blossoms blooming across the fields and friendship is around the corner. First love is just near the first base! Your life has just pretty much begun and on to the road of your dreams. Well thats what I use to think of High School and to think of Japanese romance stories. Well heres our official Anime review!

Kimi Ni Todoke (君に届け) a title that translates to “Reaching to You” is a story about a young girl named Kuronuma Sawako; a girl thats gentle, kind, smart and pretty but she is misunderstood upon entering High School. She is mistaken as a frightening girl like a ghost or a supernaturalism figure; misinterpreted by her looks and the way she tries to communicate with others. Sawako is a just a girl who enjoys ghost stories and tries to put herself out there but fails to do so… She is only noticed by one person a boy named Kazehaya Shouta a popular guy amongst his classmates and really popular around girls too. He is kind and social person in the series and he understands Sawako and tries to help make her fit in and get to knows her well for who she really is. Sawako manages to be understood better when she meets Kazehaya in High School and manages to make some friends. Delinquents like Yano and Yoshida Chizuru who become major characters in her friendship and Ryu a quiet, small talk, tall and athletic guy. Thus bonding a friendship group between these characters. Binbou Shimai Monogatari (Anime Review)

There is nothing more touching and reminiscent of sisterly love through deep hardships of poverty. The Yamada sisters, Kyo being the eldest at age fifteen and Asu the youngest at nine years old. Lived through a history of tragedies, their mother died from giving birth to Asu and their father ran away from too much in debt from gambling. Leaving his two daughter alone in a small one room apartment.

As you read the summary of the setting and story of the main characters. You expect a linear storyline that evolves into something. But really this anime is a bit of Slice of life anime that runs an episodic movement. Each episodes shows a problem that effects their hard poor lives and they overcome them each time. Their isn’t an arc or a continuation of each problem. So expect this as a small short Drama, Slice of life and a bit of comedy in each one. But don’t expect anything big…. You wonder will they ever talk more of their history, family like will they get adopted or will they find their dad again. That stuff never comes back or isn’t even present in this anime like they don’t care. The anime does have some sad moments, tender moments and laughing moments but they are level that is a bit mild.

Characters in this anime as already know Kyo and Asu Yamada are the main focus of the anime. Since they are the star of the anime you do feel a bit of attachment to them and feel sympathy for them at times. There isn’t really a cast of supporting characters that play much of a role. You see some appearance of characters and some of them appear from time to time but they don’t have much of a supporters role and mostly there for comic relief or kindness. But aside from that let’s talke about Kyo and Asu. Kyo is the a kind care free optimistic teen who works hard for her younger sister. Asu is the younger sister who is pretty mature for her age than her older sister and very kind. Pretty much similar characteristics and some differences.

The problem I have with the cast is sometimes they can be over dramatic at small times it shouldn’t, Like kittens crying over spilled milk. Sequences may be a little bit rushed and isn’t much screen time to get the storyboard in order. Its a small problem then a solution at every episode then repeats. Art is pretty good, characters look good are is a bit vivid and stand out pretty good. But it isn’t a big upgrade compared to other animes at it’s time. Seems to be not be a very high budgeted anime but it still looks very nice. Nothing to flashy or stands out more about it.

Sound is was okay, good melodies are present, they used some top voice actors but felt they weren’t at full potentional. It can be bland at some times or overdramatic. But overall its was livable. Overall the anime is nice short ride and a bit touching, heartwarming. But I felt like they have some good planning but didn’t turn out as it should be. They could of given a better episodic writing. It felt really repetive and very predictable at most times. The problems in the anime seems to be minor and You feel that the girls should be looking for something better or looking for something but they don’t.

Fallout New Vegas early glitches

As a fan of the Fallout series which has tremendously growing popular. I grew into the hype of Fallout New Vegas developed from Obsidian. The developer Obsidian which shared a link to the parent company of Interplay and Black Isle who have brought you the original Fallout and Baldur’s gate and other great titles so forth. I didn’t believe it at first that a new fallout was announce right after the third installment. But in my mind I thought was being handled by a Obsidian so I thought they secretly planned it during Fallout 3 development.

So a day after release I manage to get my hands on the PC version of Fallout New Vegas which my choice was for Mods, Graphics performance and my use to the gameplay of the mouse and keyboard. I’ll eventually pick up a console version when the game hits a lower price or a bundle DLC version.

During my first few hours I noticed a lot things needed improvements already. That bugs were already present in the beginning of the game. That people are finding left and right, I have my share of deals of problems from playing this that I had to wait to play it. Due to unpatched errors. I’m going to list a few glitches here that is found in the game..

Broken Dialogue: The conversations between NPC may not occur directly as the camera usually zooms and pan in first person but you find yourself in a laughable moment.

Auto-save dis function: This was quite frustrating that the game auto save function refused to load latest events. This was avoidable by deleting older auto saves but it sure did come back.

Quest Journal: Sometimes you find yourself confused and unaware what to do. As your progression with the game will not record your quest progress or slow updating.

Infinite XP glitch: People have been experiencing a bug where a conversation or repeat of something could just give a player infinite xp gains.

Luckily when you buy the PC version of the game it registered under Steam service. So the game was infact updated to fix Quest glitches, Auto saves, reload times and Vats. But is it fixed? The game has been getting good scores lately but maybe without the glitches we’ll see a change of heart in scores.

Once I play through my adventures in the post apocalyptic world again, I will probably review this game or give an impression. Even though the game meets some bugs it’ still enjoyable. Just wait a bit!

Moving on to Blu-Ray

Well I’ve been contemplating this for a long time about the blu-ray format. I know lots of people been uneasy about it since the format wars between HD-DVD and Blu-ray. Considering HD-DVD was a huge failure and didn’t sell well compare to Blu-ray, also big media corporations upscaling their featured motion pictures started taking a swing to Blu-ray. Thus HD-DVD has died and I feel bad for all the people who put their hearts and minds investing on one. Pfft… fanboys are still bitching today about HD-DVD is still there and they don’t want to accept blu-ray as the future format. Oh they don’t look good as HD-DVD, Their too expensive…, too slow, and stuff like they cost twice more than DVDs.

I’ve been pondering so much about it and I decided to give Blu-ray a chance and put my faith in it. I remember when DVD player came out back in the day. My god I didn’t know anything about it at all, I remember they were big, slow and fucking expensive when it first started. People dropped a deuce over it and sticked to VHS. Until it took time and people notice it had better quality, more features and carried lots of memory. Maybe Blu-ray will be the same. Well so far I’ve been watching quite a few Blu-Ray movies and been enjoying them alot; movies such as Ironman, Boondocks Saints, The Kingdom, Fast and the Furious, Street Fighter, Air, and much more. Very significants qualities! The picture is very clean and outstanding! Old movies remastered look perfect in Blu-ray especially! So far Blu-ray players are going down in prices such as around 200 dollars or around 300 if you thinking on buying a PS3 which is gaming console, digital media player and music player. (PS3 are good blu-ray players and there good for the whole family) Not to mentions Blu-ray discs are going down in price too. I’m convinced to buy more Blu-rays from here on. Well I’ll blog more about Blu-ray later so I will come back later on it!

Another Anime Convention missed.

Missed out on the first debut of an anime convention over here. Not gonna say what convention for the sake of protection but yeah.. Forgot to order my ticket a long time ago and it went from a 45 dollar fee to a 60 dollar entrance. Just for 2 days remaining of the convention which usually lasts for a bout 3 days. Bull shit man! That’s my Red Dead Redemption money and my grocery money for upcoming may madness. The only way I’ll pay 60 bucks for an Anime convention if I took a long trip from providence to providence to be there and the budgeting for the whole trip. But this Anime convention right now is next door to my Community College. Sheesh, I guess I miss out on Ohayocon, PortCon, Anime Expo and other shiz. Then again I’ve been to a couple of conventions and there really nothing worth dying to go to in my opinion except just hanging out with friends and some panels. Next year… maybe..
